Opening TLAs
Open TLAs
Open TLAs make community-governed namespaces available for anyone to rent names from.
How It Works
- A delegate from the House of Stake proposes opening a TLA, such as
degen. - The House of Stake votes on the proposal, including the TLA's premium category.
- If approved, the TLA goes live.
- Anyone can rent a name within its namespace, such as
tat.degenoralice.degen.
Key rule: No single person or entity controls an open TLA. Its namespace is governed by the protocol and the House of Stake, not by an individual renter.
If an auction proposal is approved, its timing and venue follow the current governance configuration. The public contract reference does not prescribe a separate auction mechanism here.
Both scenarios require an annual rent payment in NEAR to keep the TLA active.
